Christmas in Barcelona is celebrated with greetings of “Bon nadal” among numerous Catalan traditions. The Market of Saint Lucia which dates back to the 18th centurry opens at the Barcelona Cathedral. On January 5th the Three Kings Parade is held to watch the three wise men, Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltasar, collect letters from children with their Christmas wishes. Housheolds create a “Cago Tio”, a decoration out of log, and place it in front of their house on December 8th to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Every household also sets up a Nativity Scene at their house.
