Christmas in Austria is considered the most peaceful time of year filled with traditions. During Advent, St. Nicholas and the naughty Kramps may visit your home. Children right write letters with their wishes and through them into the fire. Presents are brought by the “Christkind” or Christ Child and opened on Christmas Eve. A traditional tree is decorated with hold and silver ornaments, stars made of straw, sweets in tinfold, candied nuts, and decored gingerbread cookies.
