Today I drive from the coast to la Cordillera Central, Puerto Rico’s interior mountain region. The interior rises 3,500 to 4,400 feet above sea level. The cool climate all year around supports agricultural activities in this area.

I begin my morning touring the Hacienda Tres Angeles coffee plantation where I learn about the different types of coffee and enjoy a cup or two or three!

Our next stop is a tour of the Yuyu Cave to explore the stalagmites, stalacites, and waterfalls.

Next on our adventure travel day I stop in Orocovis to zip line through the rain forest in Toro Verde Nature Adventure Park. Toro Verde has put the Central Region on the tourist map like no other destination. This eco-park is home to an extensive network of ziplines, including one so cool it’s called “The Beast.” Toro Verde is located in Orocovis, a heartland of verdant valleys, peaks and open sky. In addition to ziplines, the park offers rappelling, hiking, and some seriously challenging rope bridges. It’s a tremendously fun destination that will have you soaring above the forest canopy in no time. You can experience the adventure with this video!

Our final stop in the Central region is Utuado for a cave tubing tour on the Tanama River on a guided tour. Check out this video to experience the adventure without getting wet!
